Josh Carter

My name is Josh Carter, and I’m the owner-operator of Dame of the West Tattoo; I specialize solely in the Japanese style. I prefer larger-scale pieces, but I also thoroughly enjoy tattooing smaller one-shot designs. Originally from southern California, I started my tattoo career in 1997 in Venice Beach, went through the Hollywood scene, and eventually relocated to Phoenix with my family in 2006, where I’ve happily been ever since.

With over 27 years in the industry, my love for tattooing remains steadfast. As long as I am a perpetual student, constantly advancing and evolving in my craft, tattooing for me stays new and exciting.

Fun fact: I practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and I've never seen The Wire.
